Hiking Lanikai Pillbox Trail Quick Facts: It may be a little hard to find depending on the overgrowth and time of year. Trailhead will be towards the left side of the Lower Makua Cave. There is a lower cave before the start of the trail that you can explore before eventually continuing on the main trail that heads to the upper Makau Cave. Your journey starts almost immediately after leaving the parking area. The views are spectacular the entire time and only get better the higher you hike. This is one of the best hikes on Oahu, and I immediately fell in love with it! I first did this hike with my cousin and we had a lot of fun doing it. Challenges: Steep with a rugged path, loose rocks, some areas may be slightly overgrown.
